Terms of Use
These are the terms you agree to by using Flight Kneeboard, on the web or in the iOS app. The first section is the one that matters most, so it is first.

1. What this is, and what it is not
Flight Kneeboard is an advisory aid for situational awareness only. It is not certified for navigation. It must not be used as a primary means of navigation, nor for terrain avoidance, nor for traffic avoidance, nor for separation from other aircraft or obstacles.
It is not a certified Electronic Flight Bag under any FAA, EASA or other authority approval, and it has not been evaluated by any aviation authority. Nothing in it is a substitute for current official charts and publications, for a preflight briefing from an approved source, or for the equipment installed in your aircraft.
You are the pilot in command. The decision to make, continue, divert or abandon a flight is yours, and it must be based on official sources and on what you can see and verify. If anything in this app disagrees with an official source, the official source is correct and this app is wrong.
2. The data, and why it may be wrong
Flight Kneeboard displays aeronautical information derived from public sources, chiefly the FAA — charts, the National Airspace System Resource (NASR) dataset, coded instrument procedures (CIFP), the digital Terminal Procedures Publication (d-TPP) and the Chart Supplement — together with weather from NOAA and the National Weather Service, and other sources listed on the data sources page.
That information is reprocessed by us. Reprocessing can introduce errors that are not present in the source. Sources themselves contain errors. Data is published on cycles — 28 days for procedures, 56 days for charts — and information can become obsolete before the next cycle through NOTAMs and other amendments this app does not fully reflect.
We make no warranty that any information shown is accurate, complete, current, or fit for any purpose. Check anything you intend to rely on against the official source. The app shows the effective and expiry dates of every product it holds, under Settings › Data Source, so that you can see what you are actually looking at.
Weather, traffic and other live information depends on services outside our control and may be delayed, incomplete or unavailable. ADS-B traffic requires a separate portable receiver, is not a collision-avoidance system, and does not show aircraft that are not transmitting.
3. Subscriptions
Flight Kneeboard offers auto-renewing monthly subscriptions in the iOS app. There are three: Standard, Supporter and Sustainer. Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you buy.
Every subscription includes exactly the same features. The tiers exist so that pilots who are able and willing to contribute more toward the cost of running the service can choose to do so. Paying more does not unlock anything additional, and paying the lowest price does not withhold anything.
What a subscription buys is ongoing access to the service: the servers, and the aeronautical data we process and keep current on the FAA's publication cycles.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
- A subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the price of the plan you selected.
- You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings after purchase. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Where a free introductory period is offered, it is available once per subscription group per Apple Account. If you subscribe during a free period, any unused portion is forfeited.
- You may change tier at any time. Moving to a higher contribution takes effect immediately, with a prorated refund of the unused part of the plan you were on. Moving to a lower contribution takes effect at your next renewal date, so you keep what you have already paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its own terms, not by us.
The website, the calculators, the guides and the browser version of the EFB do not require a subscription.
4. Changes to the service and to these terms
We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of Flight Kneeboard, including data products and features. We may change subscription prices; where required, Apple will ask you to confirm a price increase before it takes effect, and you may cancel instead.
We may update these terms. When we do, the date at the top changes. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms. If a change is significant, we will say so in the app or on this site rather than relying on you noticing this date.
5. Acceptable use
Please do not attempt to disrupt or overload the service, bulk-download or scrape the chart and data endpoints, resell or redistribute the processed data as your own product, or work around technical limits. The underlying public-domain government data is freely available from its original sources, and those are the right place to get it in bulk.
We may suspend access that is damaging the service for other pilots.
6. No warranty
Flight Kneeboard is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, or that any defect will be corrected.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use Flight Kneeboard — including any decision made in reliance on information it displayed.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to Flight Kneeboard is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages. Where that is the case, the exclusions and limitations above apply only to the extent permitted, and nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
8. Apple and the licence agreement
The licence under which you use the iOS app is Apple's standard End User License Agreement. These Terms of Use sit alongside it and describe the service, the data and the subscriptions; where the two cover the same ground, the licence agreement governs the licence.
Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for Flight Kneeboard or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for it. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
9. Privacy
How the app handles location, motion and network data is described in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts of that state have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute — except where the law of your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere, in which case that right is unaffected.
