Where the data comes from

Weather observations are METARs from NOAA/NWS covering more than 200 countries, refreshed continuously. Airport records come from the FAA's national facility data, refreshed on the 28-day cycle. Derived numbers — density altitude, cloud base estimates, decode-difficulty scores — are computed from those sources using the same formulas as the calculators, so a ranking here and a result there can be compared directly.
