Why a calculator for this
Because 2:45 plus 1:50 is 4:35, and the classic mistake is typing 2.45 + 1.50 into a normal calculator and logging 3.95 — decimal arithmetic on sexagesimal numbers. Block times, leg times and ETAs are all hours:minutes; logbooks want decimal hours; this does the conversion honestly in both directions.
Decimal hours
Minutes ÷ 60: 45 minutes is 0.75 h, not 0.45. The rounding convention for most logbooks is to the nearest tenth, with 0.05 rounding up.
